From Tuesday 15 September 2020 Birmingham, Sandwell and Solihull will have increased covid 19 restrictions. This means that:
‘where pupils in Year 7 and above are educated, face coverings should be worn by adults and pupils when moving around the premises, outside of classrooms, such as in corridors and communal areas where social distancing cannot easily be maintained’.
At Saint John Wall we have staggered year group lesson changeovers, lunchtimes and finishing times so that social distancing can be maintained for most of the day. There are a small number of occasions where some pupils may be in the corridor with pupils from another year group. This is when the face coverings should be worn.
Please see the attached documents which show the face coverings that are permitted in school and when pupils should wear them. They also explain the extra hygiene measures needed for pupils when they touch and store face coverings. Please note that no child will be prevented from learning if they do not wear a face covering. We know that many pupils may be exempt due to medical reasons, and we also know that for some it will cause anxiety. We will do our best to retain a friendly, welcoming feel at the school despite these measures. Teachers will be wearing clear face visors so that they can still communicate with and teach your child effectively.
